No PCBs, Please

When it comes to remodeling or demoing an office or business suite, there are so many materials that we at BB Recycling would love to take off your hands. Unfortunately, PCBs are not one of them. PCBs are commonly found in lighting ballasts, which is the electronic and metal circuitry to which the light is connected. Although the ballast itself contains recyclable metal components such as copper and steel, PCBs are hazardous materials that are not safe for our employees to handle.

No need to worry if you know your history. In 1978, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a ban on manufacturing ballasts using PCBs. That means if you’re demoing a building that is more than 35 years old, you may want to take a look at what’s in the building materials. If you’re doing a remodeling or demoing job on a space that is less than 35 years old, you are ok to contact BB Recycling. For more information on what you can and cannot recycle, check out our Materials Accepted page. Or give us a call at 702.457.2500.
